Star Trek's KHAN NOONIEN SINGH, played by actor Ricardo Montalban, has topped a new list of TV's Most Out-Of-This-World characters. The WRATH OF KHAN character beat THE DOCTOR from cult British show Doctor Who and Avery Brooks' portrayal of CAPTAIN BENJAMIN LAFAYETTE SISKO in STAR TREK: DEEP SPACE NINE in the Emmy magazine poll. Emmy editors gave Montalban's smooth-talking character the top spot on the quirky list, stating, "Khan was so cool we would've bought a Chrysler Cordoba (car) if he'd told us too." The list was made up of the most bizarre characters from cult TV shows. Montalban also made the list at number 10 for his portrayal of matchmaker MR ROARKE on FANTASY ISLAND. The full top 10 is: 1. KHAN NOONIEN SINGH (RICARDO MONTALBAN) in STAR TREK 2. THE DOCTOR (various actors) in DOCTOR WHO 3. CAPTAIN BENJAMIN LAFAYETTE SISKO (AVERY BROOKS) in STAR TREK: DEEP SPACE NINE 4.
