Mtv Rapped Over New Plastic Surgery Show
MTV bosses in America have come under fire for a controversial new reality show in which people undergo cosmetic surgery to look like their celebrity icons.
In last week's (15MAR04) first show, 20-year-old twins MATT and MIKE SCHLEPP spent $22,000 (GBP12,220) on surgery so they could both look like their hero Brad Pitt.
But the programme has been dubbed a dangerous 'gimmick' by plastic surgeons.
New York surgeon BRUCE NADLER, who previously worked with MTV on another reality show, says, "Someone who is really fixated on looking like their idol is at risk of body dysmorphic syndrome, where the external appearance is blown totally out or proportion."22/03/2004 09:31
