Murray Attributes His Career To Belushi

Bill Murray has paid tribute to the late comedian John Belushi for trailblazing a path into Hollywood, paving the way for the Lost In Translation star and his contemporaries.

Recent movies Rushmore and LOST IN TRANSLATION have won Murray rave reviews, but he insists he owes his success to THE BLUES BROTHERS star.

Both Murray and Belushi, who died from a drugs overdose in 1982, starred on hit US TV show Saturday Night Live in the late 1970s.

Murray says, "I was able to follow people who were very powerful forces.

"You can't overestimate what an impact John Belushi had. He was the icebreaker who went out and broke into the commercial world with a fearlessness and artistic integrity that we could all copy.

"It made me confident that I didn't have to pimp myself out or grovel for work."
