Navarro Pities Future Inxs Frontman

Rocker Dave Navarro pities the contestants on Inxs's televised quest for a new frontman, because he understands how difficult it is to join a well-established band.

Navarro is hosting Rock Star: INXS, which tracks the search of six continents to find a replacement for the Australian band's singer Michael HUTCHENCE, who died from a suspected suicide in 1997.

And the former Jane's Addiction guitarist understands the problems the winner will face, because he found it difficult joining the RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS in 1993 and was relieved when he finally left five years later (98).

However, Navarro is sure INXS fans will be more welcoming.

He says, "I certainly do (empathise with the contestants). It's really hard to step into a band with a history.

"A lot of fans were really against me coming in, but at the end of the day I settled in and I'm sure the INXS fans will be happy with whoever wins this."
