Parker Receives French Honour

British film-maker SIR Alan Parker has been honoured by the French Culture Ministry for his outstanding contribution to cinema.

The MIDNIGHT EXPRESS director was made a CHEVALIER DE L'ORDRE DES ARTS ET DES LETTRES (KNIGHT OF THE ORDER OF ARTS AND LETTERS) during an awards ceremony hosted by French Culture Minister Renaud Donnedieu De Vabres on Wednesday (09MAR05).

During the ceremony Donnedieu De Vabres told Parker, 61, "Through your work and your campaigns you have shown us how the artist occupies an essential place in our contemporary society.

"Through the dreams which you show us, through the links that you weave, you question the world through the mirror of your work."
