Patti Smith Awarded Top French Cultural Honour
Veteran punk Patti Smith was awarded one of France's most prestigious cultural honours yesterday (10JUL05) in recognition of her services to rock music over the last 30 years.
The HORSES singer was made a Commander Of The Order Of The Arts And Letters at an AIDS benefit concert in Paris by French Culture Minister RENAUD DONNEDIEU DE VABRES.
Smith, 58, said, "I have vowed to live up to this honour in my work and my conduct. I can't explain what I feel like. It has uplifted me, and I will work very hard to earn it."11/07/2005 02:36
