Perez's Bedroom Was Hallway

The aunt who raised Rosie Perez was so strapped for space, the actress grew up living under a bureau in the hallway. The DO THE RIGHT THING star grew up in Brooklyn, New York with her five cousins and had to turn furniture into a makeshift bedroom. She recalls, "My aunt had no room for me but she made room. My bedroom was the hallway from the kitchen to the bedroom. "There was this little tiny hallway and there was a twin bed pushed to the side and then a bureau pushed to the other side of the wall. "I loved my bedroom because it was mine and I knew how much it took for my aunt to make that happen. She worked three jobs a day and would get up at four in the morning just to make sure all the kids were set up for the day."
