Porn Industry To Distribute Online

Hollywood studios are holding off plans to start offering movie downloads, after discovering the pornography industry is set to start its own online distribution. From today (15MAY06), Vivid Entertainment will make explicit films available through online movie service CinemaNow, which encourages consumers to download their choice of movie and burn it onto a DVD. And movie moguls are using the adult entertainment initiative to gauge the difficulties involved in the process. MICHAEL GREESON, who founded electronics think tank, The Diffusion Group, says, "Leave it to the porn industry once again to take the lead on this stuff. "The rest of Hollywood stands back and watches and lets the pornography industry work out all the bugs." The pornography industry was largely responsible for ushering in the home video explosion in the 1980s.
