Movies SPIDER-MAN 2 and Harry Potter AND THE PRISONER OF AZKABAN are battling for next year's (05) Best Visual Effects OSCAR.

Seven films, including The Aviator, The Day After Tomorrow, I, ROBOT, Lemony Snicket: AN UNFORTUNATE SERIES OF EVENTS and SKY CAPTAIN AND THE WORLD OF TOMORROW have been shortlisted for the ACADEMY AWARD, but only three will be put forward as Oscar nominations.

But director, Alfonso Cuaron's third Harry Potter movie and Sam Raimi's hit Spider-Man sequel have been tipped as two of the nominated trio which will be unveiled on 25 January (05) when the Oscar nominations are announced.

The winning movie will receive the gong at the prestigious ceremony on 5 March (05) at Los Angeles' Kodak Theatre.
