Potter Power At The Queen's Women Of Excellence Bash
HARRY POTTER author JK ROWLING was stunned by the conversation at Britain's QUEEN ELIZABETH II's Women of Excellence lunch - as the most popular topic was her magical books.
The Scotland-based writer was among a host of prestigious guests at the exclusive Buckingham Palace bash in London yesterday (11MAR04), including LADY HEATHER MILLS-McCARTNEY, CHARLOTTE CHURCH, KATE MOSS and EMMA THOMPSON.
And Rowling was delighted when the British monarch confessed to being a fan of the antics of Harry and his wizarding chums.
She says, "She was very appreciative."
But the Queen wasn't the only Potter fanatic at the luncheon - teen soprano Church also took the opportunity to declare her love of the HOGWARTS-set adventures.
She gushes, "The person I wanted to meet was JK Rowling. I love Harry Potter. I've read each of the books nine times over. I'm an obsessive fan.
"I feel so privileged to be here. I don't think I'm worthy when all I do is sing."12/03/2004 13:58
