Public Enemy frontman Chuck D has launched his own brand of mobile phone content including ringtones, music clips and videos. The rapper's company - Chuck D mobile - aims to make it easier for music fans to access tracks, while providing artists with a way of expanding their audiences. And the hip-hop star predicts the service could be so popular with singers it may even replace the need for record labels. He says, "I'm a fan of spreading artistry and for artists to do their own thing. "But content creators usually have to run into middle men first who judge their art before it goes to the masses. It should be the other way." The brand was launched at the Cellular Telecommunications + Internet Wireless Show in Las Vegas, Nevada, earlier this month (APR06).
