Former Deep Purple frontman Glenn Hughes is planning a major comeback - with the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

The rocker will team up with Under The Bridge guitarist John Frusciante and drummer Chad Smith to record a new solo album in January (06).

It's not the first time Hughes and Smith have worked together - the drummer co-produced Hughes' 2005 album SOUL MOVER.
