Rea Questions Commitment Of Younger Fans
British rocker Chris Rea is doubtful many adolescent music fans will bother buying his latest release, because its 11 CDs is too much for their attention spans.
THE ROAD TO HELL star Rea last month (OCT05) released BLUE GUITARS, an 11 CD and DVD boxset of blues recordings.
And the 54-year-old thinks downloading music from the internet is robbing future generations of the wonder of extravagant gatefold sleeves.
He says, "I like to think that somebody would buy it and take a year to get through it. It's the opposite of iPod.
"I sense that young people can feel that's something missing from their musical perception these days, even though they don't know what it is.
"Because they don't buy albums with gatefold sleeves, arrange an evening with friends, have a drink - obviously nowadays you'd have a joint - sit down and play the record.
"It was an experience."
