Irish singer Damien Rice has claimed the third annual SHORTLIST MUSIC PRIZE in Hollywood.

The singer/songwriter beat off British R+B duo Floetry, hot favourites the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and THE Black Keys to pick up the award, which celebrates the best non-commercial music artists and their albums.

Rice won a $5,000 (GBP3,125) cash prize from the judging panel, which included Macy Gray, movie maker Cameron Crowe and Tori Amos.
