Celebrated British lyricist SIR Tim Rice despises going to the cinema - because she believes modern films are boring and audiences eat too much popcorn. The three-time Oscar winner, who penned the songs for Evita, Jesus Christ Superstar and The Lion King, misses classic cinema, which has been replaced with computerised technology, non-existent plots and mindless violence. He says, "They are unwatchable, have no plot, are utterly incomprehensible, full of gadgets and usually gratuitously violent. "People eat oceans of popcorn and chocolates. It's far more annoying than smoking. "Passive popcorn eating is seriously dangerous for your health. "That's what puts me off the cinema - that I have to go with pretty repulsive specimens eating their way through the films."
