LATEST: Former VAN HALEN star David Lee Roth is urging his bandmates to shun plans for a reality TV comeback in favour of a reunion tour.

The singer, who fronted the band from 1978 until his departure in 1985, is keen for the JUMP rockers to reform, but refuses to star in new US TV show Rock Star: THE SERIES.

And he insists a brief reconciliation would allow the rockers to move on with their individual careers.

He tells the New York Daily News, "People want the reunion. No one will pay respect to what any of us do (musically) until we get the reunion out of the way.

"Once Eddie (Van Halen - guitar) does that, everything else he does can be seen with a fresh eye.

"Van Halen would go out for three months. That's all Eddie could handle."
