Movie veteran Lee Majors is thanking surgeons for saving his life - after a routine angioplasty to repair a blocked artery turned into a battle to save the actor's life.

Majors, 64, who played TV's SIX MILLION DOLLAR MAN, is now recovering at home in Las Vegas, Nevada, after his overnight stay following a check-up turned into a week-long health nightmare last month (MAY03).

Doctors were forced to perform a heart bypass on Majors after discovering his blockage was at the bottom of the artery - making it difficult for them to clean it.

Majors then started haemorrhaging around the artery, prompting surgeons to operate again.

A pal says, "Lee is more than thankful that a simple physical checkup may have saved his life."
