Actor Tom Selleck went to extreme measures to promote his upcoming TV projects - by shaving off half of his moustache.

Selleck appeared on LATE NIGHT WITH CONAN O'BRIEN on Thursday (20MAY04) to promote REVERSIBLE ERRORS and IKE: COUNTDOWN TO D-DAY, both of which air in America this month (MAY04).

While Selleck appeared as his usual self in Reversible Errors, he shaved off his facial hair for Ike: Countdown to D-Day, in which he plays former American president DWIGHT D EISENHOWER.

To make matters less "confusing" for viewers, host CONAN O'BRIEN suggested Selleck remove half of his moustache, before pulling a shaver and mirror out from behind his desk.

At first, a reluctant Selleck responded, "Well I could just explain it."

But, accompanied by cheers from the studio audience, O'Brien persuaded, "I think it would be better if he shaved half his moustache off."

Selleck then admitted, "It's a good idea. I think it'll work," before quickly removing half of the hair from his upper lip.

The actor turned to the relevant side to talk about each of his movies, before facing the camera and grinning, "Or watch both!"
