William Shakespeare is fast becoming a forgotten hero in his native Britain - students are more familiar with Harry Potter.

In a new survey carried out by the BRITISH BROADCASTING CORPORATION (BBC), the boy wizard's adventures are far better known among youngsters than the BARD's greatest works.

More than 60 per cent of those polled by the BBC could recite the plot and passages of Jk Rowling's HARRY POTTER + THE SORCERER'S STONE, while only 28 per cent were able to describe the plot of Hamlet, considered by many to be Shakespeare's greatest work.
