LATEST: Actress Brooke Shields has lambasted former pal Tom Cruise for criticising her "misguided" use of drugs to combat her post-natal depression.

Cruise - who claims to have helped people fight drug addictions through his controversial Scientology religion - recently attacked the SUDDENLY SUSAN star for becoming dependant on Paxil, following the birth of her daughter ROWAN.

But Shields is disgusted by the TOP GUN star's "dangerous" comments and took a swipe at his Scientology beliefs, by saying she wouldn't take advice from someone who devotes his life to creatures from outer space.

She fumes, "His comments are dangerous. He should stick to saving the world from aliens.

Shields is currently weaning herself off her medication so she and husband Chris Henchy can have another child.

I have never been a huge Tom Cruise fan. I was sickened to hear his comments against Brooke Shields. He has never experienced child birth, nor has either of his wives, to have a clue on the subject. There can be chemical imbalances in the brain...and it cancause several different disorders for the people who suffer from it. We're talking about a "religion" that was started by a science fiction author. Let's stop and think about that for a second. I am very supportive of Brooke Shields and feel it took amazing courage to tell her story. And for someone like Tom Cruise to talk against her, on a subject he has no clue, just shows how much he doesn't know. Stick with acting Cruise...leave medical issues to doctors.Teresa

I am a huge Tom Cruise fan, but very disappointed at his view on this topic. I challenge Mr. Cruise, his ex-wife (sorry there children are adopted) and his new "main squeeze" Katie Holmes to get past post-partum. Katie's very young (so she won't be looking for children too quickly), not sure Tom is looking at her for kids anyway - Batman - War of the World's may be the big event (rather than the engagement).Brooke Shields was very courageous to discuss her battle with post-partum depression. Scientology (bull). I am a very religious woman, who also suffered the PPD and religion did not help me.Therapy, medication and excellent support system were integral to my recovery. My son is well adjusted, loved and never looked back at the time when his dad did a better job taking care of him than I did.Tom Cruse, I have always loved you. Brooke Shield an amazing actress. Tom, when you get your MD, then make comments about things you know.Otherwise, keep going through life with "Your Eyes Wide CLOSED" as it relates to other people's personal lives.Hope you and Katie never experience such an episode AND if you do, you look in the right place for help.

I used to like Tom Cruise until I witnessed his pig headed views of depression last night. Stating he knows what depression is and any one who thought they needed medication were ignorant and what they needed were in fact vitamins. How stupid can anyone possibly be. To make a public appearance such as he had what was he thinking? People often times listen to their role models and want to be just like them. To think people may be taking his advice scares the crap out of me and to bash other people who have taken the advice of doctors. I do not get it at all and sincerly hope people do not listen to a word that man is preaching right now! He doesnt have a clue and I have a feeling his comments or his preaching is going to end up costing him alot in court I just hope we dont lose lives because people listened to him. Brooke Post partem is not something to take lightly , I myself went thru the experience and ended up in the hopsital from trying to end my life. In post partem depression you either hurt your self or you child ,theres no two ways about it. If someone is feeling a certain way they need to seek help and the proper guidence! Vitamins will not cut it!!!

I think Tom Cruise is like a boy crying wolf, but instead of crying wolf he is crying "straight.".

Bravo, Brooke Shields. You are remarkable in your bravery to come forward on this issue. I believe your book will be of immense help to generations of expectant and new mothers. Kudos for telling off that arrogant jerk, Tom Cruise. His comments on the Today show were inexcusable, unsubstianted, and intolerable. He should make a public apology to the millions of Americans who suffer from the many forms of depression and who seek medical treatment. He may not agree with taking anti-depressants, but it gives him no right to publically condemn and ridicule the millions who do. He needs to pop something other than vitamins -- his ego for one.

I would just like to add that tom cruise has it all - megabucks, megalooks, and has everyone in his pocket. That is Hollywood. Not one bit of it can be attributed to Scientology. Take it from someone who was sucked into the abyss that is Scientology. I ate, drank, slept, and sh#t Scientology about 15 years ago while trying to get my head together. Their "solution"; That I take out a personal loan to pay for a detox therapy called the purif, short for purification. The cost? Only a measely $2500.00. There was also the $300.00 membership fee, or whatever it was called. A religion with a membership fee (not to be confused with the collection plate in other religions,... can you imagine the Catholics charging admission to their church prior to mass??). Then there was living with other members of Scientology in something they called theta-house. Let's see, I was the only one with a paying job (oh a sidenote here,... before taking out the loan, I was guaranteed a paying side job with the Scientology staff to help pay off the loan -- I worked and was never payed a dime), they mooched off me and used my vehicle since none of them had one. By the time I was worn out and ready to get out of that place, they were threatening to confiscate all of my personal property, including my vehicle, until some very good friends helped me "pursuade" the loons at the house to back off while I packed my stuff and left. I won't even go into the wierd sh#t that went on at the church location (stuff like sexual encounters between minors and adults,... yes this did take place and was even ok'd by the minors parents). It makes me sick that these big time actors with all of their charm and megabucks, push this Scientology crap like it is the elixer that created their success. People that paid to see all of their movies made their success. Not some disturbing, nonsensical, science horror of a "religion" like Scientology. The good people of this world need to fear this cult as it steadily gains more and more power. Stay away from it. Tom cruise should be ashamed for the many people that were sucked into Scientology because of him.
