Def Jam RECORDS founder Russell Simmons has joined forces with the AMERICAN SOCIETY FOR THE PREVENTION OF CRUELTY TO ANIMALS (ASPCA) in a campaign to help abused pets.

The hip-hop mogul will appear in television and print advertisements urging Americans to call an emergency hotline if they witness or suspect instances of animal abuse.

Simmons said in an official statement yesterday (01FEB05), "There is nothing cool about being cruel to animals. They have no choice or voice."
