Rock greats Lynyrd Skynyrd have been forced to cancel a string of shows as singer JOHNNY Van Zant recovers from a strep throat.

The Sweet Home Alabama hitmakers were scheduled to play at the upcoming COUNTRY MUSIC ASSOCIATION FESTIVAL in Nashville, Tennessee - where Van Zant's country group VAN ZANT were also expected to perform.

Both shows, billed for 12 June (05) has been scrapped as Van Zant recovers from the severe bacterial infection.
