British action man Jason Statham has shocked Hollywood again by taking the sequel to his sleeper hit The Transporter to the top of the box office.

THE TRANSPORTER 2 pulled in an amazing $20.2 million (GBP11.2 million) over the long Labor Day weekend in America to end another surprise hit, THE 40-YEAR-OLD VIRGIN's reign at the top.

The 40-Year-Old Virgin, starring funnyman Steve Carell, enjoyed another respectable week - earning $16.5 million (GBP9.2 million).

Meanwhile, Statham's fellow Brits, Ralph Fiennes and Rachel Weisz, also enjoyed a good weekend at the box office.

Their new thriller The Constant Gardener, in which they play husband and wife, debuted at number three taking $10.8 million (GBP6 million).
