Stern Angry Exchange With Powell On Air
The shock jock interrupted Powell's interview on San Francisco's KGO-AM 810 to accuse him of obtaining his senior position due to intervention from his father, US Secretary of State COLIN POWELL.
He says, "It is apparent to most of us in broadcasting that your father got you your job."
Powell retorted, "You can look at my resume if you want, Howard. I'm not ashamed of it, I think it justifies my existence."
The exchange continued for more than ten minutes, with Stern adding, "I don't think you personally hate me. I think what you've been doing is dangerous to free speech.
"I think things have gotten way out of control."
The FCC has proposed fining stations a total of $2.5 million (GBP1.38 million) for airing indecent material on Stern's show.
The radio host has signed a deal to take his programme in 2006 to SIRIUS SATELLITE RADIO INC in a move to avoid broadcast decency rules.27/10/2004 17:36
