Funnyman Steve Martin is set to follow The Pink Panther's INSPECTOR JACQUES CLOUSEAU by playing another iconic character - GEORGE JETSON.

The BOWFINGER star is in negotiations to play the space-age family man in a movie adaptation of the hit cartoon series, according to internet reports.

Website ANIMATED-NEWS.COM reports bosses at film studio Warner Brothers are waiting for Martin to sign up before confirming the rest of the cast for the project, which is slated to go before the cameras late next year (06).

Sources suggest pop star/actress Hilary Duff's big sister HAYLIE is a favourite to play JUDY JETSON.
