Surviving BEE GEES ROBIN and Barry Gibb have been presented with Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) awards today (27MAY04) at Buckingham Palace - in an emotional ceremony which also honoured late brother Maurice.

The STAYING ALIVE duo - who lost their elder brother tragically last year (JAN03) - were accompanied by Maurice's son ADAM to be presented with the accolade by British heir to the throne Prince Charles.

Barry, 58, said afterwards: "It's bitter sweet. It would have been wonderful for all three of us to be here.

"We have mixed feelings. Knowing Maurice, this would have been right up his alley. He would have still had his hat on."

Film student Adam, 28, fought back his tears when Prince Charles spoke to him about the passing of his father - Maurice's widow YVONNE GIBB watched in the audience.
