Rockers The Cult have reformed for an upcoming US tour.

Group founders Ian Astbury and BILLY DUFFY are staging auditions for new members with a view to playing their first dates in almost four years.

Fans feared the British rockers had split for good after frontman Astbury dubbed the group's last tour "soul destroying".

But, after three years touring as the frontman with the reformed The Doors, aka RIDERS ON THE STORM, Astbury is charged up and keen to return to the road in The Cult.

He tells Billboard.com, "Having done (toured) it for nearly three years, The Cult started to come back to me. I was missing it and missing the music. I missed performing with Billy."

Astbury is hoping the upcoming hits tour, which is set to start in San Francisco, California, on 1 March (06), will spawn a new Cult album.
