The Da Vinci Code Dropped In Minsk
The Da Vinci Code is no longer being shown in the Belarussian capital Minsk after Christian groups complained the controversial movie is offensive. Ron Howard's adaptation of Dan Brown's bestselling novel was only in cinemas for four days before being dropped by the state film distributor Kinovideoprokat today (23MAY06). A spokesperson for the company says, "We showed the film for four days in Minsk's largest cinemas to give everyone a chance to go to see it. "We have decided to alter cinema programs due to the protests." The Da Vinci Code has been replaced by Memoirs Of A Geisha.
