The Producers' Shooting Location Is All About Bagels

Mel Brooks has one major reason for choosing to shoot the film version of his musical The Producers in Brooklyn, New York - the quality of the bagels.

Brooklyn native Brooks' move to shoot the $45 million (GBP25 million) movie at the Steiner Studios in Brooklyn Navy Yard has been hailed by the city's Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Governor GEORGE PATAKI, who believe it's because of new tax incentives.

But Brooks admits, "Just the bagels alone. You got to Toronto, they're mushy."

THE PRODUCERS: THE MOVIE MUSICAL, starring Nathan Lane and MATTHEW BRODERICK, will begin production in February (05).
