The Who Forced To Tour After Entwistle's Death

The Who were forced to carry on with a US tour in the aftermath of bassist JOHN ENTWISTLE's death in 2002, because cancellation would have financially crippled them.

Entwistle - nicknamed The Ox - suffered a heart attack during a drug-fuelled romp with prostitutes in a Las Vegas hotel room just a day before the band was due to kick off the tour.

They hastily replaced him with Welsh guitarist PINO PALADINO after discovering they'd be left penniless if they pulled out of the concerts.

Roger Daltrey explains, "The roof would have fallen in on us. We would have been sued for everything we'd got. Considering how much we've got, there wouldn't have been a lot left.

"I'm glad we continued, because it was really good. As soon as we played the music he was alive again."
