British actor Tom Conti has stormed off the set of new British comedy movie SOMETHING BORROWED - leaving the all-star cast in the lurch.

The CLAIRE KILNER-directed movie is billed as a follow-up to FOUR WEDDINGS AND A FUNERAL, and also stars WILL + Grace beauty Debra Messing, PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: THE CURSE OF THE BLACK PEARL actor Jack Davenport, and ABOUT SCHMIDT's DERMOT MULRONEY.

However, SHIRLEY VALENTINE-star Conti has left the set amid "creative differences" with American producers GOLD CIRCLE.

His agent explains, "Tom Conti has been offered a role and has turned it down. There were creative differences over his part but this happens all the time."

Something Borrowed sees Messing's character arrive in Britain for her sister's wedding, only to watch the facade crumble into a mess of confusion about ex-boyfriends and the best man.

Just came across this. What nonsense. I have never 'stormed off' a movie set. After a telephone discussion with the director before shooting began, I suggested playing the part a certain way. She didn't like it - and fired me. The movie was a flop. I wonder how that happened! Also, although part of it was shot in the UK it was an American movie. It was all many years ago, by the wayTom Conti
