Tom Jones' Emotional Homecoming Birthday Gig

Welsh crooner Tom Jones celebrated his 65th birthday a week early on Saturday (28MAY05) - by making a triumphant return to his hometown of Pontypridd for his first concert there in 41 years.

The SEX BOMB star waived his fee for the gig, because he felt guilty that he hasn't visited Wales since his mother FREDA died two years ago (03).

And he fought back tears when opera singer Katherine Jenkins presented him with a birthday cake on stage, and asked around 25,000 fans present to sing HAPPY BIRTHDAY with her in Welsh and English.

He told his adoring fans, "I'm going to be 65 in a few days and I can't believe it.

"I feel like I'm 25 again. I'll be an OAP this time next week and here I am singing in front of you all."
