Twelve People Arrested At Download Festival
Twelve people were arrested after trouble flared up at the Download Festival in England last night (11JUN06). Thousands of music fans had flocked to see headline rockers GUNS N' ROSES take to the stage to close the annual three-day event in Donnington. But police were called shortly after midnight with reports that fires had been started and troublemakers were resisting security. A spokesman for Leicestershire Police claims missiles were also thrown at officers when they tried to deal with the situation. Twelve people were arrested for criminal damage and assault but no one was seriously injured. Guns N' Roses' last appearance at the festival in 1988 ended in tragedy; two people were crushed to death when a crowd of more than 100,000 people surged towards the stage.
