Poverty campaigner MIDGE URE will be made an honorary Doctor of Music by Edinburgh University this summer (JUN06). It will be the Live 8 organiser and former ULTRAVOX singer's second honorary award - he received a similar title from the University of Abertay Dundee last October (05). The 52-year-old, who co-wrote the Band Aid hit, DO THEY KNOW IT'S CHRISTMAS, with SIR Bob Geldof in 1984, has since undertaken numerous projects to raise funds for Africa - work which also earned him an Order of the British Empire (OBE) from Queen Elizabeth II in 2005.
