Ziyi Zhang's audition for Memoirs Of A Geisha was surprisingly straight-forward - she simply told Steven Spielberg to hire her.

The Chinese screen star knew no English when she attended the casting, but her agent told her the only words she needed to secure the role.

She recalls, "I remember I didn't know a single word of English.

"My agent said, 'When you see him, just say, 'Hire me. Please."
