Rocker-turned-filmmaker Rob Zombie has revealed the real reason why Mgm studio bosses dropped his horror film THE HOUSE OF 1,000 CORPSES - they didn't get a joke he made on a movie show.

The former White Zombie frontman - real name ROBERT CUMMINGS - was getting ready to release the controversial film two years after he made it when MGM executive pulled the plug on the project because of what he said on an MTV film programme.

Zombie was on the set of Daredevil interviewing Ben Affleck when he made an ill-advised joke about movie bosses' morals.

He recalls, "I said they had no morals... I said it as a joke and I forgot I was miked.

"I was talking to Ben and he said, What's happening with your movie? I heard Universal dropped it 'cos the film had no moral value or anything?' and I said, 'Yeah, but MGM picked it up. I guess they have no morals. Ha ha ha.'

"And then the next day, on page two of (trade paper) VARIETY: 'Rob Zombie says MGM has no morals.' Then that morning one of the producers called and said, 'I don't know what you said yesterday on the set, but you're f**ked.'"

The House of 1,000 Corpses was eventually released in 2003 by LION'S GATE and has become a cult horror favourite. Zombie's sequel, THE DEVIL'S REJECTS, is due for release in July (05).
