Rockers 3 Doors Down have cancelled a slew of upcoming concerts as bassist Todd Harrell remains behind bars on charges of vehicular homicide by intoxication.
The musician was reportedly speeding down Interstate 40 in Nashville, Tennessee on Friday night (19Apr13) when he clipped a truck, allegedly causing the other driver, identified as Paul Howard Shoulders, Jr., to lose control of his vehicle and crash down an embankment. Shoulders, Jr. was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The Kryptonite hitmaker was charged in connection with the death over the weekend (20Apr13) and is currently being held on $100,000 (£62,500) bond.
In light of the tragedy, the band has cancelled all of its shows until the end of May (13).
A statement issued to The Hollywood Reporter reads, "Out of respect to Paul Howard Shoulders, Jr., and his family, 3 Doors Down has canceled the band's four scheduled U.S. April / May appearances. They will resume touring May 31 in Moscow (Russia), and return to the U.S. for scheduled dates in July."
Harrell, 41, also faces charges on bringing controlled substances into his jail cell. He is due in court on Thursday (25Apr13).
