Aaron Sorkin will be joined by Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak for the forthcoming Steve Jobs biopic. The West Wing creator hit the headlines earlier this week after it emerged that he would be penning the anticipated movie, though news of Wozniak's involvement has so far flown under the radar.
According to Reuters, the Apple co-founder has been hired by Sony Pictures as a "tutor" on all the technical aspects of the famous computers used in the filming. He will also give advice on Jobs' portrayal too. He and the late Apple boss founded the company in 1976, initially out of a small garage. Wozniak stopped working for the company in 1987, but kept in close contact with Jobs until his death last year. Sorkin - whose writing credits include The West Wing and The Social Network - will adapt Walter Isaacson's best-selling biography of the enigmatic Jobs, though at a press conference for his new series 'The Newsroom', warned that it would not be straight biopic. He told reporters, "I know so little about what I am going to write. I know what I am not going to write. It can't be a straight ahead biography because it's very difficult to shake the cradle-to-grave structure of a biography". Sorkin chose to tell Mark Zuckerberg's 'Facebook' story through his legal troubles with the Winklevoss twins in 'The Social Network, and he spoke of his desire to find a similar "event" in Jobs' story, saying, "Drama is tension versus obstacle. Someone wants something, something is standing in their way of getting it. They want the money, they want the girl, they want to get to Philadelphia - doesn't matter ... And I need to find that event and I will. I just don't know what it is".
The news comes shortly after production on Joshua Michael Stern's rival movie 'Jobs' got underway. 'Two and a Half Men' star Ashton Kutcher will play the Apple co-founder.
