Former British actor Simon Morris has been convicted of raping a teenage girl in his native England.

The 42-year-old businessman, who appeared alongside Michael Caine in crime drama Shiner, was accused of having unwanted sex with a 15 year old after getting her drunk at a house party in Newport in September, 2011.

Morris claimed to have no recollection of the event, blaming the incident on his battle with sexsomnia, a condition where one has sex in his or her sleep, but members of the jury at Cardiff Crown Court have dismissed his argument and have issued a majority ruling against him.

The actor, who also appeared in U.K. Tv series Hollyoaks, was also found guilty of one count of assault by penetration.

He is due to be sentenced next year (13).
