Adele has been awarded an MBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours.

The British monarch Queen Elizabeth II presents the awards each year and today (15.06.13) the 'Skyfall' hitmaker was recognised for her services to music.

The 25-year-old singer - who gave birth to son Angelo in October - is said to be worth £30 million and has sold seven million albums in the UK alone.

It tops off a phenomenal year for the nine-time Grammy Award winner, who also received prizes at the Oscars and Golden Globes earlier this year for the 'James Bond' theme song.

Also recognised was newly-knighted British actor Sir Tony Robsinson, who was ''gobsmacked'' to be bestowed with such a high honour.

He commented last night (14.06.13): ''I'm thrilled, flattered and a little gobsmacked to have received this recognition from my country.''

The 66-year-old star rose to fame alongside Rowan Atkinson - who received a CBE - in comedy series 'Blackadder' and joked he would take on the responsibilities befitting a knight.

He added: ''I'll use y new title with abandon to highlight the causes I believe in - particularly the importance of culture, the arts and heritage in our society, and the plight of the infirm elderly and their carers.

''I also pledge that from this day on I'll slaughter all unruly dragons, and rescue any damsels in distress who request my help.''
