Adele - Adele: I'm Heading Straight Back Into The Studio
Adele has been quick to play down rumors that she may be taking a lengthy break from recording, following her impressive winning streak at the Grammys on Sunday night (February 12, 2012). The initial suggestion that she was going on hiatus sprung from an interview with Vogue, in which she said she was considering taking a break that would last "four or five years."
Following the Grammys win, though, Adele posted on her blog that any break was more likely to last "More like five days!" In the blog, she thanks her fans for their support and admits that she omitted to mention people's names in her acceptance speech, explaining "I didn't think I had any chance (of winning). All the categories were full of people I adore with brilliant songs, records and performances. So not in my wildest dreams did I think to actually prepare anything proper to say just in case." She went on to tell the readers that she is enjoying" a few days off" before the Brit awards and "then I'm straight into the studio. Boyyahh!"
According to the Bbc, Adele's UK spokesperson described the original comment as "off-hand" before explaining that, following her vocal cord surgery last year, Adele would not be rushed into a string of live performances: "I'm gonna [sic] let her enjoy this moment and not drive her mad. We'll sit down and work out what we're doing going forward." Adele is scheduled to perform live at the Brit awards ceremony (February 21, 2012), only her second live appearance since the surgery took place. Last year. Her performance of 'Someone Like You' was the talking point of the awards show, giving the singer a lot to live up to this year.
