Adele - Adele Looks Unstoppable Ahead Of The Grammys
Adele looks set to be the Queen of the Grammy Awards in February. Despite Kanye West possessing the most nominations with seven, it's all eyes on the British singer who's up for six gongs, including the main categories 'Best Record' 'Best Album' and 'Best Song' - and few would bet against her following a phenomenal year both sides of the Atlantic.
Though the 23 year-old's live schedule was sadly cut short this year after she was forced to undergo an operation on her throat, there would be few detractors if she did walk out of the 54th Grammys laden down with prizes; the statistics speak for themselves: in the UK her second album '21' managed to hold on to the top spot in the album charts or 16 weeks, being certified platinum 12 times in the process for shipments of 3.6 million units. In the US meanwhile it went platinum four times with sales of more than 4 million to contribute to a total of more than 13 million worldwide. Lead-off track 'Rolling In The Deep' sold more digital copies in a year than any other song in history.
Indeed, against such numbers even her competitors at the awards have their misgivings about beating her. Talking to CNN, Bruno Mars - up for 'Best Song, Record and Album' himself - said "She's the coolest, most down-to-earth woman, and of course she has a voice like an angel and her album is incredible . Damn it, why am I up against Adele?!" On February 12th we'll find out for sure.
