American Music Awards - Adele Tipped To Storm American Music Awards
British singing sensation Adele is being tipped to dominate the forthcoming American Music Awards, after being nominated in four categories. The 23-year-old, who was forced to cancel her forthcoming U.S. tour due to a vocal chord haemorrhage, was given the the nod in 'Favourite Rock/Pop Female Artist', 'Adult Contemporary', 'Best Album' and 'Artist of the Year'.
Although Adele is the big favourite to triumph in each of her four categories, she is not without competition, and Katy Perry, Lady GaGa, Rihanna and Taylor Swift were each nominated three times. Elsewhere, country music group The Band Perry, R&B sensation Bruno Mars and Beyonce are up for two awards. Perry, whose album 'Teenage Dream' stormed the Billboard charts last year, will be the evening's main live performer, but rapper Pitbull will also take to the stage. Though this year's nominations are dominated by rap and R&B, Adele's fellow Brits Mumford And Sons will battle it out with Foo Fighters and The Black Keys for the indie rock award.
As in previous years, winners of the American Music Awards will be determined by online voting. The ceremony will be hosted by an all-star ensemble of Lance Bass, Michael Buckley, Estelle, Sarah Hyland, Mitchel Musso, Josh Sussman and Xzbiti. It airs live on ABC on Sunday 20th November at 8pm.
