A Los Angeles medical clinic frequented by stars from the pornography industry has been shut down after California health officials discovered doctors had been operating without a licence for more than a decade.
The Adult Industry Medical Healthcare Foundation centre was found to be running illegally in May (10), prompting its operators to file an application for the appropriate permits.
But the form for the licence request was incomplete and bosses failed to provide additional information upon request by officials at the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, leading to the application being rejected.
Clinic owners were ordered to close for good on Thursday (09Dec10) - a day after porn star Derrick Burts, 24, claimed medics had taken more than a month to refer him for treatment after he tested positive for HIV.
The entire adult film industry ground to a halt in October (10) as porn bosses rushed to ensure the safety of its XXX movie stars following the diagnosis revelation, although Burts was not identified at the time.
He has since called for mandatory condom use and improved testing for performers.
