According to preliminary overnight Nielsen ratings, Sunday's AFC Championship game on CBS between the Baltimore Ravens and the New England Patriots averaged 41.5 million viewers -- and while that figure represented the biggest audience for any program since last year's Super Bowl, it was down significantly from the NFC Championship game which aired on Fox in primetime on the comparable night a year ago. That contest attracted an average of 57.6 million viewers and ranked as the third most-watched conference championship game ever. Sunday's game peaked in the 8:30 p.m. hour with 43.47 million viewers tuning in but declined to 36.67 million in the final quarter as the Ravens scored two touchdowns to cinch the game. Rival networks made no effort to compete. All of them aired repeats. Nevertheless a rerun of ABC's new hit Once Upon a Time, averaged a respectable 7.7 million viewers. On the other hand, NBC aired four hours of repeats of The Biggest Loser, which lived up to its name as it averaged only 2.44 million viewers.
