The Fixer's Alex Polizzi has told the Daily Mail that she has battled with insomnia and depression but she thinks life is "too short to not eat what you want." In last night's episode of Alex Polizzi: The Fixer, the renowned hotelier tackled the problems faced by a family-run Cornish bakery, which struggles in the winter months, though it's a summer success when the tourists come in.

When asked if she ever diets, Polizzi told reporters that although she'll cut down on her portion sizes if her clothes get too tight, she wouldn't go so far as dieting. And she counts "white wine, fried food and chocolate amongst her culinary vices." And in 2010, Polizzi suffered the tragic loss of a child when she miscarried. She says that she "felt a bit depressed shortly afterwards. Nothing can prepare you for the loss of a child, but I realised that if I didn't think positively and accept it had happened, I might have ended up severely depressed."

Polizzi took over from Ruth Watson as the presenter of Channel 5's The Hotel Inspector, where she is charged with helping troubled hoteliers and advising the owners on turning their business into a success. She has expanded on her success on the show, to present The Fixer, which debuted on January 31, 2012 on BBC 2.
