Allen Quitting Music To Start Family
British singer Lily Allen is quitting music to concentrate on starting a family - insisting children don't fit into a pop star's lifestyle.
Last September (09) the Smile hitmaker announced she will be taking a break from music for the forseeable future so she can work on other ventures, including launching her own fashion store and record label.
Allen fuelled speculation she was quitting to have a child when she told the audience, "I want to have a baby," during a performance in Sydney, Australia in January (10).
Now the singer has confirmed the catalyst for her decision to leave the music industry is to settle down with her boyfriend.
Speaking on British TV show Live From Studio Five, she says, "I'm just not making another album because it's a really big commitment to do an album these days, because people don't buy music anymore... they download them and want the content for free. The thing that makes you your money is touring and I don't really want to tie myself down to being on the road for three years.
"I've got a boyfriend and I've got a house and I'd quite like to have children soon, so it doesn't really work into those plans. It's not retiring, I'm just doing a different job for a bit, you know, I'm having a career change for a while. I'm concentrating on something else, I'm setting up a business with my sister and you know, I'm also running a record label, I just want to stay in London for a while. It's not a particularly healthy lifestyle being on the road."
When the singer was asked if she is planning to have babies she replied: "I mean not right now, but soon I hope."
