Amanda Beard, the gold medal-winning American swimmer, is set to release her autobiography in the spring of 2012, reports CBS News. The memoirs, timed to hit shelves before the 29-year-old competes in the 2012 Olympic Games in London, is titled 'In The Water They Can't See You Cry' and will share stories of Beard's "harrowing journey" through drug and alcohol problems.
Beard will also open up about her battle with eating disorders, and the athlete says that she hopes the memoirs will "help others, especially high school and college-aged women, who may be dealing with some of the same issues". The book is set to be co-written by Beard's manager EVAN MORGENSTEIN and will be released in April 2012.
Beard, who is married to the photographer SACHA BROWN, has competed in four Olympic Games, capturing a total of seven medals. In 2003, she held the world number one ranking for the 200 meter breaststroke. In recent years she has made a number of appearances as a model in magazines such as FHM and Sports Illustrated, and she posed nude for the July 2007 issue of Playboy Magazine.
