Colton Dixon has been voted off the American Idol's finals. Yesterday, the Huffington Post had earmarked the mohawked rocker as one of the weakest links in the line-up and on last night's result's show (April 19, 2012), it became apparent that the American public were in agreement.

This was Dixon's second time in the 'Idol' contest and he has generally received decent feedback from the judges but it wasn't quite enough to make him stand out amidst stellar performances from the likes of Jessica Sanchez and Joshua Ledet. On Wednesday night's Top 7 (Redux) show, he performed a rocky version of Lady GaGa 's 'Bad Romance' that didn't quite hit the mark. That was followed by a version of Earth Wind And Fire 's 'September,' which he performed whilst playing piano. It was a decent performance but did little to demonstrate his vocal range and at this stage of the contest, it simply wasn't enough to keep him safe.

Dixon was joined in the bottom three last week, by Elise Testone and Hollie Cavanagh. Elise was sent to safety by host Ryan Seacrest before it was announced that Colton would be going home. "I need to apologize. I wasn't myself last night." Addressing the judges, he said, "I appreciate what you told me last night, and I'll take that - when I'm making a record." For his swansong, he performed Lifehouse's 'Everything,' changing the lyrics slightly to thank God.
