American Idol - American Idol Is A Natural Experience Says Jennifer Lopez
American Idol, the hit US reality singing contest, drew 26.1 million viewers for its season ten premiere although the figure was down 13 per cent from last year's opening show. Some commentators have suggested that the absence of Simon Cowell may have resulted in fans boycotting the current series, but new judge Jennifer Lopez says the show's bosses were right in their decision to bring in Steven Tyler and herself.
Speaking to MTV News on the set of her new music video 'On The Floor', the 41-year-old said, "It's just been a very natural, fun experience for us. I really just wanted to be myself, and I think Steven the same thing. We sat down there and it wasn't like, 'What are we going to do?' It was like, 'You be you". On the subject of why Lopez and Tyler were chosen to replace the outgoing Cowell and Kara DioGuardi, the singer said, "They knew that he (Tyler) was a good person and I was a good person. He was an interesting person. I had my things about me that they felt were interesting. They knew what they were doing".
The show's third episode of 'Idol' airs on Fox tonight (26th January 2011) and is set to feature auditions from singing hopefuls in Milwaukee.
